Bertie Plaatsman

Bertie Plaatsman is an awarded documentary filmmaker and photographer based in Auckland, New Zealand.

With her intimate and sensitive approach she captures people and their everyday lives in an authentic way, creating moving stories to which people can relate.

In her work, she often combines current and historical images to express the passage of time.

Her first documentary Close to Home won the Best New Zealand Short Award at the Documentary Edge Film Festival in 2014.

Currently, she is working on her latest film Four Sisters, about four Dutch sisters who lived in the Netherlands during World War II.
